English Definition
A body that brings together representatives of several public agencies to decide or coordinate on a shared matter, allowing an assessment at a single table where authority is dispersed across multiple regulators. For project financing the significance of such bodies is that the permitting and approval of large projects is often resolved not within one agency but at the intersection of environmental, energy, land, and — in cross-border investment — national-security authorities; the US interagency mechanism reviewing foreign investment is a typical instance. The presence of such a committee means the approval timetable is set not by one agency's internal process but by the pace of its slowest member.
