Bir işletmenin faiz ve vergi öncesi kazancının dönem faiz yüküne bölünmesiyle elde edilen, faiz servisini karşılama kapasitesini ölçen orandır. Proje finansmanında bu oran, borç servis karşılama oranının daha dar bir akrabası olarak izlenir; zira yalnızca faizi, anapara amortismanını değil hedefler ve bu nedenle inşa sonrası erken dönemin gerilimini daha keskin gösterir. Kredi sözleşmeleri genellikle faiz karşılama oranı için bir covenant eşiği koyar ve bu eşiğin ihlali, temettü dağıtımını kilitleyen bir kısıtlama tetikler.
English Definition
A ratio measuring an entity's capacity to service interest, computed as earnings before interest and tax divided by the period's interest charge. In project finance it is watched as a narrower cousin of the debt service coverage ratio, since it captures interest alone rather than principal amortisation and therefore exposes the strain of the early post-construction years more sharply. Loan agreements commonly set a covenant threshold on interest cover, and a breach triggers a lock-up that suspends distributions to equity.
