English Definition
The interest a lender collects from a borrower on a loan's principal as the price of providing funds, the core component of what the loan costs. In project finance interest on a loan is not a single rate; interest on the drawn balance, a commitment fee on the undrawn commitment, and interest capitalised during construction together form the total cost of borrowing. Whether the interest is fixed or floating and to which reference rate it is tied is among the most sensitive variables in the project's long-term cash-flow model.
