English Definition
The passive income streams formed by dividend and interest payments arising from cross-border investment and moving from one country to another. In project finance the management of these flows is often the most decisive yet least visible layer of the return calculation, because every payment travelling from the SPV to a sponsor or offshore lender is subject to the host country's withholding regime and to any applicable double-taxation treaty. The financing structure can therefore produce a difference of several hundred basis points in net yield depending on which jurisdiction the payment chain is routed through.
