English Definition
A largely superseded terminal type that combined a telephone function with a screen and limited online access, aiming to reach banking and information services without requiring a full computer. Though the concept itself is technologically obsolete, the commercial logic beneath it, moving the distribution channel to the customer to shift transaction cost away from the branch, still holds in corporate financial services. It serves as a reminder that the value of a channel investment is measured not in the device but in the unit transaction cost it removes.
