English Definition
A measure of the proportion of labour input relative to capital input in the production of goods or services. Industries with high labour intensity rely more on human effort than on machinery or automation. In project appraisal, labour intensity affects operating cost structures, employment multiplier effects, and the social impact assessment of development finance interventions.
