Hamilinin vade tarihinde veya öncesinde kullanmadığı için süresi dolarak geçersiz hale gelen opsiyon sözleşmesidir. Süresi dolduğunda opsiyon değersizleşir ve hamil ödenen primi kaybeder. Opsiyonun yazıcısı primi gelir olarak muhafaza eder. Süresi dolmuş opsiyonlar türev piyasalarında olağan bir durum olup alım-satım defteri değerlemelerinde buna göre muhasebeleştirilir.
English Definition
An option contract that has expired without being exercised by the holder before or on the expiration date. Once lapsed, the option becomes worthless and the holder forfeits the premium paid. The writer of the option retains the premium as income. Lapsed options are a routine occurrence in derivatives markets and are accounted for accordingly in trading book valuations.
