A licence fee is a payment made by the licensee to the licensor for the right to use intellectual property, technology, a brand name, or other proprietary assets. The fee may be structured as a one-time lump sum, periodic royalty payments, or a combination of both. In infrastructure and energy projects, licence fees are a key component of the operating cost structure and must be factored into financial models.
