A licensee is the party in a licence agreement that receives permission to use, manufacture, or sell a product, technology, or intellectual property owned by the licensor. The licensee assumes obligations including payment of fees or royalties, adherence to quality standards, and compliance with territorial and usage restrictions. In project finance, the licensee is often the project company that requires technology licences to operate.
