Loanable funds are the total amount of money available in the financial system for lending to borrowers, representing the aggregate supply of savings from households, businesses, and government that is channelled through financial intermediaries. The loanable funds theory posits that interest rates are determined by the interaction of the supply of savings and the demand for borrowing. In project finance markets, the availability and cost of loanable funds directly influence the feasibility and pricing of project financing structures.
