Böyle bir enstrümanın fiyatı artık nominal değerine ve kupon akışına göre değil, olası bir yeniden yapılandırmada geri kazanım oranı (recovery) beklentisine göre oluşur; alıcı kitlesi de kurumsal yatırımcıdan sıkıntılı borç (distressed debt) fonlarına kayar. English Definition
A phrase describing the very bottom rung of a debt instrument's credit-rating scale; a bond at this level is effectively in default or very close to it, and interest payment has ceased. The price of such an instrument no longer forms against its face value and coupon stream but against the expected recovery in a probable restructuring, and its buyer base shifts from institutional investors to distressed-debt funds. In project finance a bond's fall to this rung is usually signalled, before debt service actually stops, by covenant breach and reserve depletion, so the rating serves less as an indicator of risk than as a belated confirmation of it.
