Bir borç, bedel ya da yükümlülüğün, dönemsel taksitler yerine tek seferde ve toplu olarak ödenmesini ifade eder. Bir ödemenin toplu mu yoksa taksitli mi yapılacağı görünüşte biçimsel bir tercih olsa da, arkasında paranın zaman değeri yatar: peşin ve toplu ödeme, ödeyen için likidite baskısı ve fırsat maliyeti, alan için ise erken erişim ve karşı taraf riskinin ortadan kalkması anlamına gelir. Proje finansmanında peşin toplu ödeme çoğu zaman bir iskonto pazarlığının konusudur; tedarikçi ya da alıcı, gelecekteki bir ödeme akışını bugünkü toplu tutara indirgerken uyguladığı iskonto oranı, tarafların örtük sermaye maliyetini açığa çıkarır.
English Definition
The settlement of a debt, price, or obligation in a single aggregate payment rather than in periodic instalments. Whether a payment is made in a lump or in instalments looks like a formal choice, yet behind it lies the time value of money: an upfront lump payment means liquidity pressure and opportunity cost for the payer, and early access with the removal of counterparty risk for the recipient. In project finance an upfront lump-sum payment is often the subject of a discount negotiation, and the discount rate a supplier or buyer applies in reducing a future payment stream to a present lump reveals the parties' implicit cost of capital.
