Deniz taşımacılığında, müşterek avarya (general average) doğuran bir olayın ardından zarar ve fedakârlıkların gemi, yük ve navlun menfaatleri arasında oransal olarak paylaştırıldığı hesabın (dispeç) düzenlenmesini ifade eder. Bu paylaştırma, bir menfaatin ortak kurtuluş için gönüllü katlanılan kayba tüm çıkar sahiplerinin katılması ilkesine dayanır ve bağımsız bir dispeççi tarafından yapılır. Emtia ve proje ekipmanı taşımalarının finansmanında bu mekanizma önemlidir; zira CIF ya da CIP koşullarında sigorta ve avarya garantisi (average bond) düzenlemesi, malın tesliminin ve dolayısıyla akreditif ödemesinin fiilî önkoşulu hâline gelebilir.
English Definition
In marine transport, the preparation of the statement (adjustment) by which the losses and sacrifices arising from a general-average event are apportioned proportionally among the ship, cargo and freight interests. The apportionment rests on the principle that a loss voluntarily incurred for the common safety is shared by all interests benefiting from it, and is drawn up by an independent average adjuster. This mechanism matters in financing commodity and project-equipment shipments, since under CIF or CIP terms the arrangement of insurance and an average bond can become a de facto precondition of delivery, and hence of payment under the letter of credit.
