English Definition
The integrated statistical framework that aggregates a country's output, income, saving, investment and external balance into a coherent accounting system, linking magnitudes from gross domestic product through the current account. In cross-border project financing the credibility of these accounts feeds directly into country-risk assessment, since development finance institutions calibrate country ceilings and transfer risk largely from the internal consistency and revision history of national-accounts series, and a weak statistical apparatus tends to be priced quietly into the risk premium.
