Bu durumun sonucu masum değildir; zira teslim edilmesi gereken bir kıymetin mevcutta olmaması takas başarısızlığına (settlement fail) yol açar, ve proje tahvili gibi görece dar ve likit olmayan ihraçlarda teslim edilemeyen pozisyonlar, açığa satış maliyetini, ödünç alma ücretini ve nihayetinde ikincil piyasa fiyatını yukarı iten bir sürtünme üretir.
English Definition
A phrase indicating that an item is not held in inventory; in a capital-markets context it can mean that a security is not present in a dealer's or custodian's holdings. The consequence is not innocent, because the absence of a security that must be delivered leads to a settlement fail, and in relatively narrow, illiquid issues such as project bonds, positions that cannot be delivered generate a friction that raises the cost of shorting, the borrowing fee and, ultimately, the secondary-market price.
