English Definition
The sale of a good or service to be paid later rather than in cash, a transaction in which the buyer takes on a trade debt to the seller. In project finance and the supply chain selling on credit is the fundamental mechanism by which trade credit finances working capital, and the payment term a supplier grants directly eases the project's cash needs during construction. The length of that term is frequently a silent leverage on the project's need for external financing; a lengthened supplier term effectively reduces the costly construction loan that must be drawn.
