English Definition
The broad concept expressing a business's total financial performance from its core activity over a period — the combined picture of revenue, expense, margin, and operating profit — giving a holistic view of the operation's health rather than a single ratio. Reading these results as a trend is more informative than the figure of any single period. In project finance, periodic operating results are the core of the compliance certificates and independent monitoring reports supplied to the lender; a systematic deviation of results from the budgeted curve, even where it does not by itself constitute a covenant breach, is an early warning that raises the lender's monitoring intensity and prepares the restructuring table ahead of time.
