English Definition
The middle-office unit within a lender or finance institution that collectively runs the administrative life cycle of signed transactions, centralising drawdown, monitoring, covenant testing and reporting functions. In project finance the discipline this unit maintains across the portfolio matters, because a covenant breach missed in one file is often the first sign of a systemic weakness that recurs in similarly structured transactions. The monitoring reports the unit produces frequently form the actual backbone of the early-warning system.
