English Definition
Output is the quantity of goods or services a production plant, process or economy generates over a given period, expressed in physical measures—megawatt-hours in energy, units in manufacturing, tonnes in mining. In project finance, output is the volume leg of the revenue equation and, multiplied by price, produces cash flow; the gap between tested capacity and sustainable actual output therefore sits at the heart of the credit model. Lenders size to a probabilistic output scenario verified by the independent engineer, such as P90, rather than the sponsor's P50 expected case, and the margin between the two draws the real limit of borrowing capacity.
