Bir varlığın, menkul kıymetin ya da malın, geçmiş maliyet veya defter değeri yerine değerlendirme anındaki piyasada geçerli fiyatını ifade eden değerleme ölçüsüdür. Cari fiyat ile defter değeri arasındaki açık, bir varlığın gerçek teminat kapasitesini belirlediğinden, kredi verenler teminat havuzunu dönemsel olarak cari fiyata göre yeniden değerler; nitekim proje finansmanında bu fark, piyasa gerilediğinde teminat tamamlama yükümlülüğünü tetikleyerek borçluyu en elverişsiz anda ek nakit ya da varlık koymaya zorlayabilir.
English Definition
A valuation measure expressing the price at which an asset, security or commodity trades in the market at the moment of assessment, as opposed to its historical cost or book value. Because the gap between current price and book value determines an asset's real collateral capacity, lenders periodically remark the security pool to current prices. In project financing this gap can trigger a margin call when the market falls, forcing the borrower to post additional cash or assets at precisely the least convenient moment.
