English Definition
The tranche of subscribed capital that has been called and has reached its contractual due date but has not yet actually entered the institution's coffers. What distinguishes it from the prior stage is that the delay has ceased to be a matter of schedule and has become a collection risk dependent on the obligor's performance. Growth of this item on a multilateral institution's balance sheet is an early-warning signal, since an accumulation of overdue but uncollected capital may point to a weakening in a member state's capacity or political will to pay, and effectively narrows the institution's lending ceiling.
