English Definition
A payment term under which a debt becomes due the moment the creditor presents a demand, without any notice period or grace interval intervening. The phrasing carries particular weight in letters of credit, suretyships, and on-demand guarantees, since the beneficiary can draw on the funds without first litigating whether the underlying contract was breached, so the obligor's right to dispute is effectively deferred to after payment. In project finance this pattern makes such instruments the lender's strongest collection tool within liquidity support and completion guarantees.
