Bir ifanın, çıktının ya da davranışın kabul edilebilir sayılması için karşılaması gereken, tanımlanmış nitelik ve düzey eşiğidir; kriterlerin toplandığı normatif çerçeveyi ifade eder. Standart, bir sonucun yeterli olup olmadığını yargılamanın ölçüsünü sabitler. Proje finansmanında bu terim çoğu zaman teknik olduğu kadar çevresel-sosyal bir anlam taşır; uluslararası kredi verenlerin dayattığı çevresel ve sosyal performans standartları — özellikle IFC Performans Standartları ve Ekvator Prensipleri — bir projenin finanse edilebilirliğinin ön koşuludur, zira bu standartlara uyumsuzluk yalnızca itibar riski değil, kredi sözleşmesinde doğrudan bir temerrüt olayı tetikleyebilecek bir sözleşmesel yükümlülük hâline gelir.
English Definition
A defined threshold of quality and level that a performance, output or conduct must meet to be deemed acceptable; it denotes the normative framework in which criteria are gathered. A standard fixes the measure by which the adequacy of a result is judged. In project financing this term frequently carries an environmental-social as much as a technical meaning; the environmental and social performance standards imposed by international lenders — notably the IFC Performance Standards and the Equator Principles — are a precondition of a project's bankability, since non-compliance is not merely reputational risk but a contractual obligation whose breach can trigger a direct event of default in the loan agreement.
