Bir borçlanma aracının anaparasının geri ödeneceği tarihe kadar kalan zaman aralığıdır. Bu süre, aracın faiz oranı duyarlılığını ve süresini (duration) belirleyen temel değişkendir; uzadıkça fiyatın faiz hareketlerine hassasiyeti artar. Proje tahvillerinde ise yasal vadeye kalan süreden çok, sculpted (nakit akışına göre şekillendirilmiş) amortismanın ürettiği ağırlıklı ortalama ömür (WAL) belirleyicidir; zira anapara vade boyunca eşit değil, projenin nakit üretim profiline göre dağıtılmış biçimde geri döner.
English Definition
The time remaining until a debt security's principal falls due for repayment. This period is the primary driver of duration and interest-rate sensitivity: the longer it runs, the more a price responds to shifts in yields. In project bonds, however, weighted-average life matters more than legal maturity, because sculpted amortization repays principal in line with the project's cash-generation profile rather than in equal instalments, so two bonds with the same maturity can carry very different effective exposures.
