English Definition
The conduct of transporting, dispatching and balancing liquid or gaseous product through a pipeline system. What distinguishes pipeline assets in project finance is that revenue is often secured through ship-or-pay contracts based on reserved capacity independent of physical volume; this structure shifts volume risk from the carrier to the shipper, widening debt capacity, but makes the counterparty's credit quality the sole underpinning of the revenue guarantee.
