Bir borcun, yükümlülüğün ya da sözleşme bedelinin, para veya eşdeğer bir değerin transferiyle tasfiye edilmesi işlemidir. Proje finansmanında ödemenin kendisi kadar sırası ve zamanlaması belirleyicidir; zira gelirler, sözleşmeyle önceden sabitlenmiş bir öncelik sırasına göre önce işletme giderlerine, sonra borç servisine, ardından rezerv hesaplarına ve en sonda sermayedar dağıtımına yönlendirilir. Bu sıralama kredi verenin en temel yapısal korumasıdır; nitekim bir ödemenin nakit akış şelalesindeki basamağı, alacaklının fiilî riskini nominal tutarından daha fazla belirler.
English Definition
The act of discharging a debt, obligation or contractual amount through the transfer of money or an equivalent value. In project finance the sequence and timing of a payment matter as much as its occurrence, because revenues are directed according to a pre-fixed order of priority, the cash-flow waterfall, first to operating costs, then to debt service, then to reserve accounts and only last to equity distributions. This ordering is the lender's most fundamental structural protection, and a payment's rung on the waterfall determines a creditor's real exposure more than its nominal amount does.
