Bir belgeye, çeke ya da kıymetli evraka, düzenlendiği gerçek tarihten daha ileri bir tarih yazma işlemini ifade eder; böylece belgenin hüküm doğurması ya da ödenmesi geleceğe ötelenir. Karşıt işlem, geriye tarihleme (antedating) olup her ikisi de geçerlilik ve ispat açısından ayrı sonuçlar üretir. Finansal uygulamada ileri tarihleme, bir aracın gelecekteki bir valör tarihiyle hizalanmasında kullanılır; ancak denetim ve icra açısından hassastır, zira belgenin gerçek düzenlenme anı ile taşıdığı tarih arasındaki fark, ihtilafta niyet ve öncelik tartışmalarını tetikleyebilir ve bu nedenle kayıt disiplini önem taşır.
English Definition
The act of placing on a document, cheque, or instrument a date later than the actual date of its execution, so that its taking effect or its payment is deferred into the future. Its opposite, antedating, and post-dating each carry distinct consequences for validity and evidence. In financial practice post-dating is used to align an instrument with a future value date; it is nonetheless sensitive from an audit and enforcement standpoint, since the gap between the true moment of execution and the date the instrument bears can trigger disputes over intent and priority, which is why record discipline matters.
