English Definition
An actor able to influence the price of the good it sells rather than take it as given, by virtue of market share or differentiation, standing opposite the price taker that accepts the price set externally. In project finance this distinction directly sets bargaining power: where a project sells its output into a market dominated by a single, powerful buyer, the counterparty's price-making power caps the achievable PPA price, and lenders price that asymmetry by discounting the revenue assumption rather than crediting it at face value.
