Prime borrower, referans faize eklenen marjın en dar bandından fon sağlar ve çoğu zaman baz kredi faizi etrafında fiyatlanır. Proje finansmanında bu nitelik tekil bir şirkete değil, işlemin yapısına aittir; güçlü bir sponsor bile zayıf bir offtake sözleşmesi ya da kanıtlanmamış teknoloji taşıyan bir projeyi prime koşullarla finanse ettiremez, zira kredi verenin baktığı borçlu proje şirketinin kendisidir.
English Definition
A borrower whose credit history, debt-service capacity and security structure reflect the highest credit quality and which can therefore borrow at the lowest risk premium and on the most favorable terms. A prime borrower funds at the narrowest band of margin over the reference rate and is often priced around the prime rate. In project financing this quality attaches to the structure of the transaction rather than to a single company: even a strong sponsor cannot finance on prime terms a project carrying a weak offtake contract or unproven technology, since the borrower the lender examines is the project company itself.
