Ölçüt sadeliği nedeniyle yaygın kullanılsa da paranın zaman değerini ve geri ödeme sonrası nakit akışını göz ardı ettiği için tek başına yatırım kararına dayanak oluşturmaz. Proje finansmanında geri ödeme süresinin borç vadesinin belirgin biçimde altında kalması kredi verenler için bir konfor sinyalidir; zira sermaye, borç servisinin en kırılgan olduğu erken dönemden önce geri dönmüş olur.
English Definition
The time required for a product's cumulative cash inflows to recover its development and commissioning cost. Widely used for its simplicity, the measure ignores the time value of money and any cash flow arising after recovery, so it cannot on its own anchor an investment decision. In project financing, a payback period comfortably shorter than the debt tenor signals comfort to lenders, since capital returns before the early phase in which debt service is most fragile.
