Bir işletmenin ya da ekonominin, mevcut varlık tabanı, işgücü ve teknolojisiyle sürdürülebilir biçimde üretebileceği mal ve hizmet hacmini ifade eden, üretim kapasitesinden daha geniş kapsamlı iktisadi kavramdır. Fiziksel üretim hattının ötesinde, kapasiteyi besleyen sermaye stokunu ve onun yenilenme hızını da içerir; dolayısıyla amortisman yoluyla aşınan bir varlık tabanı, yeni yatırımla telafi edilmezse üretken kapasiteyi zamanla düşürür. Proje finansmanında bakım sermaye harcaması (maintenance capex) taahhütleri, tam olarak bu aşınmayı borç vadesi boyunca telafi etmek için covenant'a bağlanır.
English Definition
A broader economic notion than production capacity, denoting the volume of goods and services a firm or an economy can sustainably produce with its existing asset base, labor, and technology. Beyond the physical production line, it embraces the capital stock feeding that capacity and the pace at which it is renewed; an asset base worn down through depreciation therefore lowers productive capacity over time unless new investment offsets it. In project financing maintenance capex commitments are bound into covenants precisely to offset that wear across the debt tenor.
