Bir projenin faaliyetlerini olasılıksal süre tahminleriyle modelleyerek kritik yolu ve toplam tamamlanma süresini belirleyen bir zaman planlama tekniğidir. Her faaliyet için iyimser, olası ve kötümser üç süre tahmini alınıp ağırlıklı beklenen süre hesaplanır; bu yönüyle tek nokta tahmini kullanan kritik yol yönteminden (CPM) ayrılır ve belirsizliği açıkça fiyatlar. Proje finansmanında PERT çıktıları, gecikme cezası (LD) tavanlarının kalibrasyonunda ve inşa dönemi faiz bütçesinin süre riskine göre yastıklanmasında kullanılır.
English Definition
A scheduling technique that models a project's activities with probabilistic duration estimates to identify the critical path and expected completion time. For each activity an optimistic, most-likely, and pessimistic estimate is combined into a weighted expected duration, which distinguishes it from the single-point estimates of the critical path method and prices uncertainty explicitly. In project financing, PERT outputs feed the calibration of liquidated-damages caps and the sizing of the construction-period interest budget against schedule risk.
