Tek bir projeye hizmet edebileceği gibi, kurum genelinde metodoloji ve kaynak tahsisini standartlaştıran bir portföy ofisi de olabilir. Sermaye-yoğun ortamlarda proje ofisinin gerçek katma değeri, projeler arasında kurumsal hafızanın taşınmasını sağlamasıdır; zira aynı hatanın farklı projelerde tekrarlanması, tekil hata maliyetinden çok daha pahalıdır ve bu tekrarı ancak merkezî bir öğrenme mekanizması kırabilir.
English Definition
An organizational structure that centralizes the management, standard processes, and reporting discipline of a project or a portfolio of projects. It may serve a single project or function as a portfolio office that standardizes methodology and resource allocation across the institution. In capital-intensive environments the real value added by a project office is carrying institutional memory across projects, because the repetition of the same error on different projects is far more expensive than the cost of any single error, and only a central learning mechanism can break that repetition before it compounds across the portfolio.
