English Definition
The totality of documentary output produced over a project's life cycle — progress reports, change orders, inspection records, correspondence. The real value of these records becomes visible not in day-to-day management but when a dispute arises, since the outcome of a delay or cost-overrun claim is determined by the documentary trail of which notice each party gave, when, and in what form. An experienced project manager builds record discipline not as bureaucratic burden but as a contractual rights-preservation tool, because a notice not served within the prescribed window can procedurally defeat even a substantively valid claim.
