English Definition
The estimated amount of cash a project or business will generate from its core operations before financing and investment items, the raw source of debt service capacity. Its conceptual difference from projected cash flow is that generation focuses on the economics of the operation itself, whereas flow also encompasses financing and investment movements. An experienced evaluator tests the cash generation estimate less against the size of revenue than against the collection cycle and working-capital dynamics, since a cash generation strong on paper can become effectively unreachable at the moment of debt service if receivable collection slows and working capital swells beyond the model's assumption.
