Bir alıcının, belirli mal ya da hizmeti tanımlanan miktar, fiyat ve teslim koşullarıyla tedarik etmek üzere satıcıya ilettiği ve kabulüyle bağlayıcı bir sözleşme kuran resmi belgedir. Proje tedarikinde önemi, çoğu zaman tarafların asıl çerçeve sözleşmesindeki genel şartlar ile purchase order'ın arka yüzündeki standart hükümler arasında bir öncelik çatışması (battle of the forms) yaratmasıdır; ayrıca uzun teslim süreli ekipmanda verilen erken siparişlerin (long-lead items) iptal ve ilerleme ödemesi koşulları, projenin FID öncesi taahhüt ettiği batık maliyeti doğrudan belirler.
English Definition
A formal document a buyer issues to a seller to procure specified goods or services at a defined quantity, price, and delivery terms, forming a binding contract upon acceptance. In project procurement its importance is that it frequently sets up a battle of the forms between the general conditions of the parties' framework agreement and the standard terms printed on the order; moreover, the cancellation and progress-payment terms attached to early orders for long-lead equipment directly determine the sunk cost a project commits before reaching FID.
