İki para biriminin, aynı mal ve hizmet sepetini satın alma güçlerinin eşitlendiği noktada bulunan teorik döviz kurunu ifade eden kavramdır; nominal kurun uzun vadede bu pariteye yakınsaması beklenir. Sınır ötesi proje finansmanında önemi, uzun vadeli gelirin yerel para cinsinden, borç servisinin ise sert para (hard currency) cinsinden olduğu yapılarda, cari kur ile satın alma gücü paritesi arasındaki sapmanın gizli bir devalüasyon riski taşımasıdır; nitekim yerel enflasyonun sert para enflasyonunu aştığı jurisdiction'larda bu makas zamanla açılır ve indeksasyon ya da döviz koruma mekanizmalarıyla yönetilmezse öz kaynak getirisini sessizce aşındırır.
English Definition
The concept of the theoretical exchange rate at which two currencies command equal purchasing power over the same basket of goods and services, toward which the nominal rate is expected to converge over the long run. Its relevance in cross-border project finance is that where long-term revenue is denominated in local currency while debt service is in hard currency, the gap between the spot rate and purchasing power parity carries a latent devaluation risk; indeed, in jurisdictions where local inflation outpaces hard-currency inflation this spread widens over time and, unless managed through indexation or currency hedges, quietly erodes the equity return.
