English Definition
A systematic approach that secures confidence a product or work will meet the required standards by designing the process correctly from the outset rather than detecting defects after the fact; unlike control, it audits the process that produces the output rather than the output itself. In construction-intensive projects a documented QA system is frequently a contractual precondition, since the lenders' independent engineer often ties progress-payment certifications to the traceability of the contractor's QA records. Gaps in those records can halt payment regardless of the finished work's physical quality.
