English Definition

A participative management practice in which workers meet regularly in small, voluntary groups to discuss quality and efficiency problems within their own work area and propose solutions, gathering improvement knowledge from the point where the work is actually done rather than from senior management. Its value lies in capturing tacit shop-floor knowledge; in large site operations a recurring assembly fault or a delay pattern often surfaces in such local observation before it reaches a performance report, and early detection forestalls cumulative slippage in the project schedule.
