Bir para biriminin bir başka para birimi cinsinden değeridir; iki para arasındaki dönüşüm oranını ifade eder. Proje finansmanında döviz kuru statik bir sayı değil, gelir ile borç servisinin farklı para birimlerinde olduğu her yapıda taşınan bir risktir; gelirleri yerel parada, kıdemli borcu döviz cinsinden olan bir projede kurun tek yönlü hareketi, DSCR'ı hızla teminat eşiğinin altına itebilir. Bu nedenle kur riski çoğu zaman doğal hedge — döviz cinsinden gelir sözleşmeleri — finansal hedge ya da her ikisinin bileşimiyle yönetilir; hedge maliyetinin kendisi de projenin fizibilitesine giren bir kalemdir.
English Definition
The value of one currency expressed in terms of another, the rate at which two currencies convert. In project finance the exchange rate is not a static number but a risk carried in any structure where revenue and debt service sit in different currencies; in a project earning local currency while servicing hard-currency senior debt, a one-way move in the rate can push the DSCR below its covenant threshold quickly. Currency risk is therefore managed through natural hedges such as hard-currency offtake contracts, financial hedges, or a combination, and the cost of that hedge is itself a line item in the project's feasibility.
