English Definition
The physical capital goods used in the production process, such as machinery, plants, equipment, and infrastructure, distinguished from financial capital, meaning the money and securities that fund those assets. The core function of project finance is precisely to manage this distinction; financial capital, debt and equity, is converted into real capital, the physical facility, and repayment is tied to the cash flow that this real capital generates. The alignment between the technical life of the real capital and the tenor of the debt is a fundamental condition of a sustainable structure.
