Ekonominin üretken alanlarının — sanayi, tarım, inşaat, enerji ve hizmet üretimi gibi — topluca ele alınan halidir; finansal aracılık dışındaki katma değer yaratan faaliyetleri kapsar. Çok varlıklı bir portföyü finanse eden aktör için asıl mesele tek bir sektör değil, portföyün reel sektörler arasındaki dağılımı ve bu sektörlerin çevrim (cycle) korelasyonudur. İyi kurgulanmış bir portföyde nakit akışları birbirinden farklı talep sürücülerine bağlanır; zira aynı makro şoka aynı anda tepki veren sektörlere yığılmış bir portföy, çeşitlendirilmiş görünse bile fiilen tek bir riske maruzdur.
English Definition
The productive domains of an economy — industry, agriculture, construction, energy, and services production — taken collectively; the value-adding activity that lies outside financial intermediation. For an actor financing a multi-asset portfolio the salient question is not a single sector but the distribution across the real sectors and the cyclical correlation among them. In a well-constructed portfolio the cash flows are tied to genuinely distinct demand drivers, because a book piled into sectors that respond to the same macro shock at the same time is, however diversified it appears on a sector tally, exposed in substance to a single risk — the correlation, not the count of names, determines whether the diversification is real.
