Amounts in the nature of periodic subscriptions paid to preserve a registered status in a register or membership; unlike a one-off registration fee, they are recurring and contingent on the continuation of the status. In project finance such recurring dues typically relate to maintaining exchange membership, a professional register, or a license registration, and form a small but continuous line in the project's operating cost statement. The critical detail is that although non-payment is not itself a debt default, it can trigger suspension of a license or membership and thereby interrupt the project's operating permit or market access, which is why lenders track them indirectly under a maintenance-of-authorizations covenant.
