English Definition
The withdrawal of labour that a given phase of production or construction no longer requires, freeing that workforce for redeployment elsewhere. In a project financing this typically surfaces as the phased demobilisation of site crews at the close of the construction period, when the cost base narrows toward a lean operating establishment. Where the demobilisation schedule is not synchronised with the contractor's works programme, idle labour cost feeds straight into the project budget rather than being absorbed by the works.
