Müşterilerin daha önce satın aldıkları malları çeşitli nedenlerle geri göndermesiyle oluşan ve brüt satışlardan düşülerek net satışa ulaşılmasını sağlayan bir hasılat düzeltme kalemidir. Muhasebede satışın karşıt hesabı olarak izlenir ve yüksek seyretmesi ürün kalitesi ya da sipariş uyumsuzluğuna işaret eder. Uzun vadeli tedarik ve ekipman sözleşmelerinde bu kalemin trendi ihmal edilmemelidir; zira artan satış iadeleri, gelir tablosundaki hasılatı olduğu kadar, karşı tarafın kabul ve muayene şartlarının fiilen ne kadar sıkı uygulandığını da ele verir.
English Definition
A revenue-adjustment item arising when customers send back goods they had previously purchased, deducted from gross sales to arrive at net sales. In the ledger it is carried as a contra account to sales, and a high level signals product-quality or order-conformity problems. On long-term supply and equipment contracts the trend in this figure should not be ignored, since rising sales returns reveal not only the reported revenue in the income statement but also how strictly the counterparty's acceptance and inspection terms are actually being enforced.
