English Definition
The return of ownership or an interest to the party that granted it once a lease, usufruct, or life interest ends; the value of the remaining interest is called the reversionary value. The concept is decisive on projects resting on long-term land leases, since where the land beneath a facility is held under a lease, the right to use the asset returns to the landowner at expiry, and for this reason lenders require the lease term to exceed the debt maturity plus a tail, since reversion can otherwise erode the security's value before maturity.
