Bir sözleşmenin, poliçenin ya da tahvil izahnamesinin (indenture) asıl metnine eklenerek onu değiştiren, genişleten veya sınırlayan ek hükümdür. Sigortada rider, temel teminatı belirli bir riski kapsayacak biçimde genişletir ya da daraltır; proje finansmanında ise inşaat all-risk poliçelerine eklenen rider'lar, gecikme sonucu kâr kaybı (delay in start-up) gibi kredi verenin ısrarla talep ettiği örtüleri devreye alır. Ek metnin dili çoğu zaman ana sözleşmenin standart hükümlerini sessizce geçersiz kıldığından, rider'ların okunması müzakerenin en teknik katmanıdır.
English Definition
A supplementary provision attached to the main text of a contract, insurance policy, or bond indenture that amends, extends, or restricts it. In insurance a rider widens or narrows the base cover for a specific risk; in project finance, riders to construction all-risk policies bring in coverages that lenders insist upon, such as delay-in-start-up loss of profit. Because the language of an attachment often quietly overrides the standard terms of the main contract, reading riders is among the most technical layers of the negotiation.
