English Definition
A senior manager who leads a sector team, responsible for the lending and investment strategy for that sector and for the quality of the deal pipeline the team produces. The role demands decision discipline as much as technical expertise: the judgment of which projects advance to the credit committee and which are screened out early to avoid wasted resources is often made at this level. In project finance the leader's sectoral insight determines the capacity to see a transaction's structural flaws in the early stages of due diligence, since the cost of a structural problem noticed late compounds once the deal table is set.
