Bir girişimi başlatmak için gereken en erken finansmanı ifade eder ve çoğunlukla çekirdek sermaye ile eş anlamlı kullanılır; kurucuların kendi kaynakları, melek yatırımcılar ya da erken aşama fonlarınca sağlanır. Proje geliştirmede bu erken para, fizibilite çalışmaları, ön mühendislik ve izin başvuruları gibi henüz hiçbir geri dönüş üretmeyen harcamaları finanse eder. Bu aşamanın kritik özelliği, harcamanın büyük bölümünün geri dönüşsüz (sunk) olması ve dolayısıyla geliştiricinin projeyi hangi aşamada terk edeceğine dair disiplininin nihai getiriyi doğrudan belirlemesidir.
English Definition
Seed money denotes the earliest financing needed to launch a venture and is often used synonymously with seed capital, supplied by the founders' own resources, angel investors or early-stage funds. In project development this early money funds spending that yet yields no return, such as feasibility studies, preliminary engineering and permit applications. The critical feature of this phase is that most of the outlay is sunk, so the developer's discipline about the stage at which to abandon a project directly determines the ultimate return.
