Yalnızca anapara üzerinden hesaplanan, tahakkuk eden faizin yeniden faize tabi tutulmadığı faiz yöntemidir; bileşik faizin aksine faiz üstüne faiz işlemez. Proje finansmanında inşa döneminde kapitalize edilen faiz çoğunlukla bileşik esasla büyürken, bazı gecikme faizi ve teminat hükümleri bilinçli olarak basit faize bağlanır, zira taraflar borç yükünün kontrolsüz katlanmasını sınırlamak ister. Bu ayrım kısa vadede önemsiz görünse de, uzun tenorlu bir kredide toplam maliyet farkını ciddi biçimde büyütür.
English Definition
An interest method computed only on the principal, where accrued interest is not itself subjected to further interest; unlike compound interest, no interest accrues on interest. In project finance the interest capitalised during construction usually grows on a compound basis, whereas certain default-interest and security provisions are deliberately tied to simple interest, since the parties wish to cap the uncontrolled compounding of the debt burden. Trivial over a short horizon, the distinction widens the total-cost gap materially across a long-tenor loan.
